Passion For Fashion Goes On!

We started to build our ideals when we were kids. Most of us, I assumed, wanted to be teachers, nurses and doctors. Growing up with my mom and grandmother who both know how to sew clothes, I was partly influenced to be a designer (although I admit I first wanted to be a doctor) and make people’s clothes. I even dreamed of becoming a model until I realized I am stuck with this height. This dream career was hyped up when I entered high school. I gained friends who dress really well and whose sense of fashion I really adore.

This dream of mine did not crash into ashes as I grew older. One of my professors in college and even colleagues would even compliment my sense of fashion. More so, at that point in time, I knew I would not land on that career. Not sooner than I wanted.

“Nothing is impossible when you want to achieve something” holds true to my case. Since we are in a technological age where everything seems impossible, I found ways to practice my passion in fashion.

Websites like http://looklet.com/ and http://lookbook.nu/ provided avenues for wanna-be fashion designers and models to strut off their style without the existence of those paparazzi and catwalk. These sites encouraged people like me to expose their creativity and meet people with the same preferences.

Social networking sites also provide for this need. There exist such applications like Sorority Girl and Coco Girl which, although a bit childish, allows users to design the clothes of their avatars.

For some people like me, these applications and websites are not just mere games but avenues to vent out fashion prowess. For some, it may be an avenue just to show off all those non-sense things. Whatever it is that people think, this just shows that we are in the age where everything can be one-click away. Knowing how these tools can help us depends on our ability to discern and interpret.

It is a matter of choices and decisions.

And luckily, my passion for passion goes on!

Acing the Winged Eyeliner

To all girls out there, I know the difficulty you experienced in acing that winged eyeliner! I have been able to do mine when I was in college using a Youtube tutorial. Below is the best image to illustrate how it's done.

1. Decide how you want your winged eyeliner to look like. Also, decide if you want it thin or thick. I usually depend it on my application on the first eye. For some, you can also use a tape or spoon to trace the wing.

You can either open or close your eyes when applying. I open mine when I apply it because it's easier although it entails more precision so that it will look good and parallel with the other eye.

2. Start in the center (the easiest) when applying.

3. Thenmove outwards to meet the wing.

4. Fill in the space with the liquid eyeliner you're using.

5. Draw from the innermost of the eyes up to the center.

6. Fill in the space then voila!

Right now, I am using Snoe Eye Boop Liquid Eyeliner. It's really affordable and looks good on me. It doesn't chip or smudge either.

Not a Frustrated Model

When one dreams, anything is possible. Reality bites whenever I realize that I was not able to fulfill one of my dreams, my frustration of being a ramp model.

However, I didn't let myself stop from that. I read articles about fashion and beauty. I always make sure that I read to equip myself with the right knowledge. I try to apply things that I read. It's funny that I even learned how to apply basic makeup from Youtube tutorials. Tips about fashion? I read it too.

And given this height, who would have thought that I could still do something about this frustration? What I love most is the chance to model for some of my friends' online shops. Yes! I feel like a model whenever I do that. I join go sees whenever I can. The recent one I joined was for Cotton On when they were about to open here in the Philippines. My cute face ( as Laureen Uy commented) wasn't enough though. I also joined Belle de Jour's fashion show before for the petite section.

When I was in college, one of the most memorable frustrations-turned-aspirations moments was for the test shots I had for the batch graduation photos. I was fortunate to be one of the models of our batch. Here I share with you some of the results of it.

I still remember one of the owners of these photo studios saying that I can't be a ramp model but I can be a commercial model. That looked like a compliment for me!

So if there's anyone out there who have the same experience as mine, don't let yourself feel bad. There's still a lot you can do to flaunt that beauty!

When I first worked for a Chinese-owned mobile phone company in Manila, I was pretty much amazed by how they use Chinese astrology to predict a lot of work-related stuff.

They hire people based on their birthdays. It tells something about the characteristic of the prospective employee and its compatibility with the employed ones.Well, I was lucky enough to get in. They also use this certain calendar with all the good and bad days written in it. We would check the calendar and plot dates based on the goodness of the day. We would even not hold an event if it falls on a bad day. Weird, eh?

The most influential thing, I guess, is the use of Bazi chart to predict some part of my life. I also knew that people born under the sign of Horse and Rabbit are my best friends. My former boss would even advise me to well horse and rabbit trinkets to be lucky. As a Ying Metal, she would also advise me to wear anything in white, silver and metallic colors.

From then on, I always take into consideration the color combination I'm wearing. I also got used to checking stuff with horse or rabbit prints in it.

Curious about what your face means? I have read a lot of meanings of different face types and I have come across this article which discusses an in-depth meaning of face.

Hair, according to this article, shows our physical resiliency. Having this coarse hair with thick strands means a strong physical drive and quick recuperative powers. Who would have thought that it would partly be true?

The forehead, on the other hand, is related to intelligence. I guess I don’t have much of a high forehead so I’ll consider mine flat which means forward-thinking. Most of the time I am like that but probably it’s normal to be like that.

As to my low-set eyebrows, it means I am likely to experience periods of self-doubt. I guess those are moments when I am feeling down and unsure.

My oblong face shape means practicality, reliance on methods and deliberate but overwork tendencies.

The eyes as they say are the windows to our soul. According to Chinese, it also show our true nature. I guess mine is medium-sized and based on what I read, it means balanced intelligence. I guess this relates to me being an extrovert and a quiet type sometimes. I remembered my former boss telling me that I have a tendency to shut off.

The meaning of nose is what intrigued me the most because it relates to our grasp on money. For an Asian, I believe mine is well-shaped which indicates that money will be no stranger to me. I hope in the near future it does!

My rounded-shaped ears mean I’m trustworthy, friendly and a social star which is overall true. My strength is becoming socially active and taking part in every endeavors.

My rosy pink lips means that I have a warm personality, so warm that it will melt all the ice in you.

This next is about the cheeks which I found negative in my part. According to it, the cheeks inform us and others of how we achieve our goals and whether we do it with grace or sheer ruthlessness. Since I have a high cheekbone, which is very prominent, it means power-hunger. Maybe in the corporate world, I am? Or tempted to be one? Pretty sure it depends on how I handle the power vested upon me.

The last facial part is chin which relates to stamina and determination. My protruding chin means I am strongly independent and determined individual. This I could be proud of because I know for a fact that I am one fearless girl who will climb her way up to success.

Happy Easter Sunday

Our Easter Sunday Celebration started with me cooking Lasagna.

My first try was a fail, because the white sauce was also a fail that time.

Now thanks to my super easy white sauce recipe, my 2nd try was a success! I just added 2 tablespoons of cream cheese to the original recipe.

I made my meat sauce the night before, so all I did was the white sauce, cook the pasta, and put them all in the dish and bake!

Then we went to hear Mass at the St. Mary's Cathedral in Tamatsukuri. There were a lot people since it is Easter Sunday. I also loved that I knew all the songs that was sang. I remember my high school choir days. :)

This is actually the church that the husband and I went to when we're still dating.
Oh well, those we're the days. LOL. Kidding aside, I really love it here.
Just too bad it is so far from our house now.

The main cathedral will apparently be on construction starting next month for one whole year.

We all went to Namba afterwards, then I finally found a bag that fits my criteria perfectly! (Well almost - I was looking for a medium sized bag that fits a bottled water, lunch if necessary, my wallet and a B5 file that is either in colour yellow, ivory, or bicolour, with a ribbon or tassel, and preferable 2 or 3 way) This is a 2 way bag. It could be a long shoulder bag or a back-pack, it fits what I mostly need and is in colour ivory. Good enough and cheap enough so I bought it right away! Hehee.

Ended the day with a hot bath and chillax with my sweetie pie!

Also, white + neon is so this year!
If you think that neons are too much, try layering and just peep out a little on your neckline and hemline like what I'm doing most of the time when I want to add a bit more colour on my outfit.
