I Am My Own Wedding Planner

Sunday, April 27, 2014

Organizing events is one of my forte. I may sound boastful but that's true. Given the ample budget and instructions, I know I would ace the event.

Actually being a wedding planner/organizer is still one of my dream jobs. I dream of organizing my own wedding too. And I hope someday I would be able to put up a business like that because the rush and all excite me.

Maybe I was also inspired by my cousin's wedding a few years back.

Let me walk you through my dream wedding...

COLOR PALETTE. Since I wasn't able to have something memorable for my 18th birthday, I want my wedding to be the perfect fit of my dreams.Tones of peach, pink and gold as my wedding palette is my top pick for a sophisticated yet sweet look.

THEME. Something romantic with ethereal accents. I want my choice of subtle colors complement the theme.

VENUE. I want my wedding intimate and be be celebrated at Paco Park, Manila. I realized how beautiful this place is for a wedding when I was about to graduate in the university.

SETUP. Since I want my reception to be at the same venue as the church, a garden setup would best fit my preference. I don't want something extravagant.

I hope I could transfer it to something like an enchanted kingdom with a see through tent like the one below.

CAKE. I want a 3 tier cake with cupcake tower incorporated in it.

FLOWERS. I want a biedermeier bouquet of red, pink and coral Carnation for my wedding. But infusing pink Roses to the Carnation would do the trick too. For my girls, I want kissing balls of white Carnation or pink Roses.

MUSIC. I want a softer and a girl-rendition of All of Me by John Legend. An instrumental of Yiruma is okay too. I hope one of my girls, Anne, would do the honor of singing when I walk down the aisle.

WEDDING FAVOR. Believe it or not, I believe in luck. My previous boss told me that my lucky animals are horse and rabbit. So if given a chance, I'll give this little gold horse paperweight as my favor.

BRIDESMAIDS. I want all my girls to wear this dainty dress with light metallic pink shade.

MY LOOK. The overall look is something that look like the image below. The gown's very much soft in texture but is also sexy at the same time. In spite the tradition of white gown, I want mine to be ivory in color. It reminds me the color of real pearls. It looks more chic than pure white.

Someday... this dream wedding will turn into reality.

Basic Flower Arrangement Tips

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

We girls love flowers. (Ok, most.)
They're pretty, and I believe it also transmits healing energy.

I also love the feeling of having able to express yourself by arranging.
So a few years back, I decided to have flower arrangement lessons and went for 6 months.

These are the flower arrangements I made:

Strawberry Field Theme for my daughter's 2nd Strawberry Theme Party

A Vertical Arrangement

Arranging flower textures

Round/Oval Shaped Arrangement

Diamond Shaped Arrangement

Spring Themed Arrangement

Japanese Matsuri Themed Arrangement

Enhancing one type of flower

Christmas Themed Arrangement

Here are some flower arrangement tips:
1. Follow a certain theme and/or shape.
This makes arranging easier for us beginners.
2. Same as human faces, the faces of flowers also have their best angle.
Find their angle, and try make sure that every single one is facing their best
and try not to cover even a single face!
3. Flowers also have their roles in an arrangement:
-The Mass is the Lead Role
-The Fillers that fills up the spaces
-The Form that enhances the Main Flowers
-The Line that gives flow and movement

I suggest checking on different images of flower arrangement to give you inspirations. Magazines, books or even just on the internet. This would give you an eye to creating an arrangement in your own style that you are most confident with.

My most recent arrangement includes sweet pea for my daughter's 4th Birthday Party

Hope this Helps! Happy Arranging! :)

Welcoming My Little Miss

More than a month ago, I was very nervous and excited for the coming of my little miss. I was anxious on how tedious my life would be the moment she arrives. I was thankful I got a break from all those thinking by celebrating all that's left of me being just a single human being to becoming one with my little miss.

Tadah! I got myself a DIY baby shower with the help of my siblings and good friends. Googling all over the internet on how to do it the cute and girly way, I got myself some courage and all necessary legwork to put things all up.

Luckily, I was successful in creating those DIY baby shower decors I found in the internet. I felt so fulfilled after working on with my creative juices. These are snippets of what I made out of the tutorials in Youtube and Pinterest.

E- Invitation: I asked a former officemate of mine, one who I call "nay", to make my e-invitation inspired by ribbons, polka dots and all pink.

Decor: Since this one is for my little miss, I supposedly wanted everything floral so I feel very happy when all the colorful pinwheels turned out to look good. The floral pompoms I made also complimented the yellow wall of our receiving area and the table cloth with pink tulle on it.

I also searched for some baby shower printables which I used to decor the whole area. I also used some as a "leave-a-message-to-the-mom-to-be".

Food: I served pasta, buko salad, cake, nachos and mini-burgers since it started at 7pm and we assumed that everyone would go hungry once they arrive. Partly I was right but there were a lot of leftover too! My HS best friend also gave cupcakes with pink frosting on it as a gift. I also had a "candy area" with all those pink and purple color to match the theme of the baby shower.

Party Favor: As souvenir to all my thoughtful friends, we gave them a homemade peppermint sugar scrub in a little pink jar. All my college bestfriend did was to mix the peppermint oil, white sugar and pink coloring and voila! Just be careful though in using the coloring liquid because the output might get too dark.

Yay! This baby shower is truly a break from all the mood swings I got during the pregnancy. All went fine and I feel very loved during this day.

If you're one lucky expectant mom, don't be afraid to throw a baby shower for yourself! Let me know your thoughts about this. *wink*
