Friday, May 30, 2014

Don't we all love Teriyaki?
I am always asked by friends on how to make this, so here it is!

What you need:
Chicken thighs
salt
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup Japanese wine
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup mirin
2 tbsp sugar

Cut into preferred size and add just a little bit of salt then set aside

Skin first, put in a pan and wait until skin has become slightly brown, then pour in everything except for mirin and boil for about 15 minutes.

Now add the miring and simmer for 10 minutes.

Add sugar and boil until the sauce becomes sticky.

Serve with chopped lettuce and garnish with Japanese mayonnaise and pepper!

A sure hit that everyone will enjoy!

Donburi Series: Oyako Donburi with Shimeji Mushrooms

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

A second of my donburi series!
I tried to make this recipe by using products that are available anywhere, whatever country you are in.  It turned out ok, so...

Here's what you need:
chicken breast
spring onions
shimeji mushrooms
2 eggs
1/4 cup of white wine
1/2 cup of soy sauce
1/4 cup of water
2 tbsp of sugar

Put cut chicken on a pan.
Yep, I'm not using any oil here.

Put in and sauté with the spring onions, and just pour in all the liquids then simmer.
Add sugar, then put the mushrooms, then simmer again.

Pour in beated eggs and cover pan until eggs are cooked.

Put in a bowl together with rice and sprinkle powdered chilli if preferred.

Easy-Peasy for the Lazy! Heheh.

Donburi Series: Buta-Tama Donburi

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

I was thinking whether to post this as a lazy day recipe because I usually cook donburis whenever I feel lazy since they are very easy and does not leave a need for many dishwashing.
Yet donburi dishes has a lot of options and you can just make it with practically everything so I thought of making this into a series.

For my first donburi series, I cooked a Buta-Tama Donburi (Pork and Egg Rice Bowl).

Here's what you need:
1 large onion
half a tsp go grated garlic
4-500g pork strips
1/4 cup yakiniku (korean bbq) sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 egg

Cut onions and pork

Saute together with garlic

Put on yakiniku sauce and soy sauce.

Top with half cooked sunny-side up and drizzled with soy sauce or chilli oil!

I suggest you mix them all together before eating! :)
