Things I Will Teach You, My Daughter

Tuesday, April 1, 2014

When I gave birth to my little miss, I was pretty much anxious of how I'm going to be as a mom. Life taught me a lot of things and I thought of writing this as my way of letting her learn through my eyes.
  1. Red lipstick is an all-time eye-catcher.
  2. Smiling is the best weapon you can have.
  3. Be responsible over the things and tasks that you were assigned (whether she likes it or not).
  4. It's difficult to find real friends. When you find one, treasure him/her.
  5. Family will always be there no matter what.
  6. Make yourself aware.
  7. Have an opinion.
  8. Be aggressive yet cooperative.
  9. Read, read and read.
  10. Grades in school won't define who you are. Strive more.
  11. Assert yourself when the situation calls for it.
  12. Don't go on a diet all the time. Live a healthy life.
  13. Don't get too clingy over your boyfriend. He will leave for you another sooner or later unless he's the one.
  14. Appreciate life (and everything bad).
  15. Use lotion all the time. It will save you from skin curse.
  16. Look up to your parents and swear that you will be like them or better when you become one.
  17. Siblings fights are normal. You will realize this when you get a bit older.
  18. You will value money once you earn it by yourself.
  19. There exists such an idea as "hell week" but don't be afraid because you'll get over it.
  20. Going to church is a not a measure of your faith to Him.
  21. Have your eyebrows shaped regularly.
  22. You will have to ditch your friends once in a while. Don't be bothered about it as long as you make up to them.
  23. Give gifts that are useful.
  24. Hydrate yourself.
  25. Teach your child all the things you learned, be it good or bad.

Feel Good About The Bump!

Sunday, March 30, 2014

We've all dreamed of becoming a mother to our child. We've been to a point of imagining how it is to havethat big belly with a little human in it.

For some part, I hate the morning sickness the pregnancy gave me. I hate how my body react to the food I ate. When I get past it, I felt pretty good and felt the "glow" everyone is talking about.

I say that whether you're scared of how things will turn out or how lonely you can get because of the mood swings, be happy and feel good about that bump because that's your angel inside.

What can you do to feel good?

  1. Exercise. There are tons of video tutorials for pregnant women which you can watch and follow. Don't do it all just because you want to be active. Choose one that you think you can do.
  2. Continue to do your routine. Just avoid heavy lifting.
  3. Learn to rest once in a while.
  4. Put on that makeup. Yes! Have fun and feel pretty
  5. Think happy thoughts. I believe this is the most important one because your baby feels what you feel. Give yourself a break when you feel like being sad or crying.

Here are some of the photos I have during my pregnancy. My high school bestfriends decided to do a little photoshoot that will remind us of this important stage in my life.

This one's my favorite!

Thanks to my girls who served as sponges when I rant about things. So to all moms-to-be there, be proud to show that bump. Don't be afraid to put on some makeup and dress beautifully.

Welcoming My Little Miss

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

More than a month ago, I was very nervous and excited for the coming of my little miss. I was anxious on how tedious my life would be the moment she arrives. I was thankful I got a break from all those thinking by celebrating all that's left of me being just a single human being to becoming one with my little miss.

Tadah! I got myself a DIY baby shower with the help of my siblings and good friends. Googling all over the internet on how to do it the cute and girly way, I got myself some courage and all necessary legwork to put things all up.

Luckily, I was successful in creating those DIY baby shower decors I found in the internet. I felt so fulfilled after working on with my creative juices. These are snippets of what I made out of the tutorials in Youtube and Pinterest.

E- Invitation: I asked a former officemate of mine, one who I call "nay", to make my e-invitation inspired by ribbons, polka dots and all pink.

Decor: Since this one is for my little miss, I supposedly wanted everything floral so I feel very happy when all the colorful pinwheels turned out to look good. The floral pompoms I made also complimented the yellow wall of our receiving area and the table cloth with pink tulle on it.

I also searched for some baby shower printables which I used to decor the whole area. I also used some as a "leave-a-message-to-the-mom-to-be".

Food: I served pasta, buko salad, cake, nachos and mini-burgers since it started at 7pm and we assumed that everyone would go hungry once they arrive. Partly I was right but there were a lot of leftover too! My HS best friend also gave cupcakes with pink frosting on it as a gift. I also had a "candy area" with all those pink and purple color to match the theme of the baby shower.

Party Favor: As souvenir to all my thoughtful friends, we gave them a homemade peppermint sugar scrub in a little pink jar. All my college bestfriend did was to mix the peppermint oil, white sugar and pink coloring and voila! Just be careful though in using the coloring liquid because the output might get too dark.

Yay! This baby shower is truly a break from all the mood swings I got during the pregnancy. All went fine and I feel very loved during this day.

If you're one lucky expectant mom, don't be afraid to throw a baby shower for yourself! Let me know your thoughts about this. *wink*
